The Civic Guard of Trelac is a company formed to provide service, ceremonial "flavor" and act as front line for the protection of the Shire against all invaders and malefactors. Some may ask why we have chosen such a seemingly laughable animal - the donkey, to represent us. There are several reasons for this. First, the donkey is a stubborn creature. Once he has made up his mind to something, no one will move him. We, here in the western portion of the kingdom are a stubborn people, and we have taken it in our heads to form a protective wall for our kingdom. No one will move us. Secondly, the donkey is a servant. It is his lot in life to serve those he is bound to. That is also the purpose of the guard. We are here to serve Trelac, the Kingdom and the SCA.
